Striker at the double in friendly run-out.
Sunderland’s development squad rounded off their 2013-14 campaign with a 4-1 victory over Burnley in a friendly game at the Academy of Light on Wednesday afternoon.
Mikael Mandron opened the scoring in the 24th minute after goalkeeper Max Stryjek denied Burnley striker Jason Gilchrist an opener moments before.
The Frenchman beat Clarets stopper Daniel Nizic with a 20 yard shot to put the Black Cats in front and three minutes later he doubled the lead from close-range after latching onto Charis Mavrias’s cross.
Shortly after the break two-goal Mandron turned provider to set up Jordan Laidler and within seven minutes Mavrias popped up to grab a fourth.
The Greek winger made a good run as he cut in from the left and coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net.
The Clarets reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute after they were awarded a penalty. Stryjek brought down Gilchrist inside the box, before the front man duly converted from the spot.
The Black Cats managed to hold onto their lead, as there were no real chances for either side in the final 30 minutes of the game, to close their season with a resounding 4-1 victory.
