Manager happy with new boy’s display.
Following Sunderland’s away day triumph over Wigan a delighted Martin O’Neill took time to pay tribute to Alfred N’Diaye, who made his first start for the Black Cats in the game.
It looks like he’s going to an exciting player for us.
- Martin O'Neill
The Frenchman, who sealed a move to the Stadium of Light from Bursaspor last week, made his full debut for Sunderland and wasted no time in introducing himself to the 5,000 travelling fans.
Tough-tackling N’Diaye caused problems for the Latics as they struggled to deal with the no-nonsense midfielder.
He was also instrumental in Steven Fletcher’s first goal of the game to put Sunderland 2-1 in front, something the Black Cats boss was pleased to see.
“His cross was fantastic,” O’Neill beamed. “Once he settles down and gets the pace of the game he’ll get better.
“It looks like he’s going to an exciting player for us.”
