Club news: SAFC Women to return to SoL

SAFC Women is delighted to announce that the team will be returning to the Stadium of Light for the 2024-25 season.

The Club has committed to playing a minimum of four regular season games at the Stadium of Light, with the Club’s other fixtures continuing to take place at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground.

Following an incredible 2023-24 season, the Stadium Series will ensure more fans than ever before can back the Lasses and help to grow the game.

More information regarding which matches will be played at the Stadium of Light will be communicated once our 2024-25 fixtures have been released.

The last campaign saw the Lasses break their league attendance record, with 1,477 supporters watching the River Wear Derby in March on Women’s Football Weekend.

SAFC Women’s General Manager Alex Clark said: “With the evolution of the women’s game and the current developments to the ground, we are delighted that we will be hosting games at the Stadium of Light. It provides exciting opportunities for our players and allows us to further connect with the city. We are also thankful to still have the existing relationship with Hetton Town Trust as we prepare for the 2024-25 season, and look forward to welcoming existing and new fans back for the new campaign.”

Information regarding season tickets will be released in due course.
