Adam is a tough-tackling midfielder who came through Sunderland’s Academy system.
He was born in Hartlepool and has been with the club since the age of eight.
Adam has Football League experience under his belt, making 12 appearances during a loan spell at Brentford between February and May 2011.
He was then loaned out to both Bradford and Leyton Orient in 2011-12, playing 15 games in all.
Adam also scored four goals in 14 games for Sunderland’s development squad, for whom he has been a regular when not out on loan.
The midfielder joined Portsmouth on loan in January 2013 to get more first-team football under his belt and he made 10 appearances during his spell at Fratton Park.
