Alex Gorrin

Alex hails from Tenerife and signed his first professional deal in summer 2011 after completing a scholarship with Sunderland’s Academy.

He was the first Spanish national to represent the Academy and turned down an approach from Tenerife of La Liga to join the Black Cats.

The ball-playing midfielder enjoys getting stuck in at both ends of the pitch and is renowned for his excellent attitude to the game.

Alex broke into the development squad in 2010-11; making four appearances before he added another ten games for the second string in 2011-12, playing an increasingly important role as the season wore on.

Gorrin became an integral part of the development squad during the 2012-13 campaign, playing 20 games and scoring two goals; including a wonder-strike at Craven Cottage against Fulham in April 2013, which you can see below.
