Scott joined Sunderland in October 2012 following a successful trial.
The centre-back came through the youth system at Darlington and made 10 senior appearances during the 2011-12 season.
He worked under coach Craig Liddle until the Quakers folded at the end of the campaign due to financial problems.
Scott hails from Middlesbrough and has been handed a contract until the end of the 2012-13 campaign.
