U21 Preview: Youngsters travel to Forest

SAFC Under-21s are back in action on Monday night, taking on Nottingham Forest at the Impact Arena, home of Alfreton Town (KO 7pm).

The young Lads will be seeking a response from the 2-0 defeat at Bishop Auckland against Middlesbrough last time out, against a Forest side who have not yet picked up a point in the Premier League 2 Division 2.

John Hewitson is expected to continue in interim charge of the U21 side for the contest in the East Midlands, having taken the team in their five league matches so far this season.

With five first-team players starting at Boro in the side’s last outing, a younger side is expected to face off against Forest – Jacob Carney could return in goal, whilst Harrison Sohna is not yet expected to return as he recovers from minor surgery. Ethan Kachosa has now served his one-match suspension, but Michael Spellman continues his loan with Whitby Town for another three weeks.

Forest currently sit second-bottom of the PL2 Division 2 and have yet to register their first point – their record is only worsened by rivals Derby County, who have played a game more and also remain pointless with a worse goal difference. The Reds have scored in every match, but have been beaten 3-1, 4-1, 5-1 and 2-1 by Southampton, Middlesbrough, Leeds United and Newcastle United respectively.

The team did however register a win in their opening group match of the Premier League Cup, coming out on top 3-1 over Charlton Athletic. Of the seven our opponents have scored in all competitions this season, each goal has been scored by a different player.

Social media coverage of the clash from Alfreton will be live on the official SAFC Academy Twitter page, @AcademyOfLight.
