Sunderland AFC Under-18s started off the new campaign with a 1-1 draw against Derby County.
Adam Asghar's side took the lead in the first half when Trey Ogunsugi tucked away his penalty. Derby hit back to equalise through Adisa Osayande midway through the second half.
The Lads will next travel to Blackburn Rovers for the first away game of the season.
