Preview: Under-18s set to host Everton

Sunderland Under-18s return to league action on Saturday with a home fixture against Everton (12.30pm).

The Lads look to return to winning ways following last weekend's defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers. 


Everton currently sit 11th in the U18 Premier League having won three, drawn one and losing nine from 13.

The Toffees sit one place and one point below Sunderland and were also 3-0 victors in the reverse fixture in September.

The U18 side are led by Everton legend, Leighton Baines.

Baines made over 300 appearances for the club after joining from Wigan in 2007. 

The former full-back also made 30 appearances for England before retiring and starting his coaching journey in 2020.

Young forward, Martin Sheriff, leads the goalscoring charts for the Evertonians with three goals in four appearances.

The U18 Premier League

Manchester United sit top of the pile having won 14 out of 15 fixtures this season and drawing one. 

Manchester City, Liverpool and Derby County make up the rest of the top four.

Blackburn Rovers sit bottom just one point behind Stoke City. 

The Black Cats currently sit six points behind ninth place Leeds United.
