Foundation: Matchday lottery update

Foundation of Light’s matchday lottery will be changing as of this Saturday, when Sunderland AFC host Ipswich Town at the Stadium of Light.

The Ha’way and Play online lottery was introduced last season as way for fans to support the club’s official charity when they were unable to attend games in person.

Since moving back into the stadium on a matchday for the 2021-22 season, feedback has indicated that buying a ticket in-person rather than online is preferred, with supporters also stating that they enjoy the draw being made during half time in the ground.

Taking all fan feedback into consideration, Foundation of Light has taken the decision to remove the online platform and all lottery ticket sales will move back to in stadia in-person sales only.

The Ha’way and Play draw will also return to its halftime pitchside slot, with results being read out by the stadium announcer.

At each home game the matchday lottery gives supporters the chance to win £1,000 plus runner-up prizes, including signed merchandise and SAFC experiences.

Over the last five years, nearly £500,000 has been raised on matchdays through activities including the lottery, supporting thousands of people and families throughout Sunderland and beyond to improve their lives through sport, education, employability and health and well-being programmes.

Fans can purchase tickets up until kick-off at the Stadium of Light at every home game from sellers located around the concourse.
