Confirmed: Gibson signs 18-month deal

Sunderland AFC have completed the signing of Darron Gibson on an 18-month deal.

The midfielder joins from Everton for an undisclosed fee, having moved to Goodison Park in 2012 after rising through the ranks at Manchester United.

The 29-year-old made his United debut in October 2005 in a League Cup game against Barnet, making a total of 60 appearances – including outings in the UEFA Champions League – during his time at Old Trafford.

David Moyes knows the midfielder well having signed him during his time at Goodison Park where he made 69 appearances.

A Republic of Ireland regular, Gibson is an international team-mate of club captain O’Shea and has represented his country on 27 occasions, scoring one goal.
