Two in two: Maguire scoops October award

Chris Maguire has picked up his second Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month award in as many months!

After securing the gong for September following his Burton Albion beauty, the forward scored a second screamer, this time against Southend United, to bag the October award.

The Sunderland man, who has been dubbed ‘The King’ by the red & white army, received 71% of the public vote, fending off competition from Barnsley’s Mamadou Thiam and Gillingham’s Tom Eaves.

And Maguire believes this one is his best yet.

That’s two in two which is a great achievement for me,” said the forward.

“I think this one is better than the last and if you’re looking at them both, I think this one deserved it more.”

He added: “The mentality we’ve picked up means that even when things aren’t going great, we dig in and comeback, as we showed last weekend.

“We’re on a great run, so hopefully we can keep it going and move up to that number one spot.”
