Team news: Injury update including the latest on McGeady's fitness

Jack Ross has revealed there's some concern over the fitness of Aiden McGeady going into this weekend.

The Republic of Ireland international, who has scored three goals in his last two games, was taken off at half-time in Wednesday's win at Accrington Stanley.

While Ross refused to reveal the extent of McGeady's injury at his pre-match press conference this morning, he did admit there's some doubt over his fitness while Lee Cattermole and Reece James remain sidelined for the trip to Spotland.

“The only one that comes back into the squad is George Honeyman, who has completed his suspension," he said.

"Reece James and Lee Cattermole miss out, along with Adam Matthews, Chris Maguire and Duncan Watmore.

"We have a couple of other concerns, Aiden McGeady being one of them. We’ll look at that over the course of the day."

He continued: “We took Will off on Wednesday but that was just a combination of his ankle and fatigue because he hasn’t trained an awful lot.

When we have the opportunity to bring him off or not start him it’s important to look at doing that because he is important for us.

“He looks to be getting into that little groove and his goal on Wednesday helps that but if there’s an opportunity to look after him in the game or because he might be fatigued then we will manage each game that comes along.”
