Injury update: Broadhead out for three months

Lee Johnson has revealed that Nathan Broadhead is set to be out of action for a minimum of three months.

The striker suffered a hamstring injury against Arsenal last week, having scored earlier in the first half against Mikael Arteta’s Gunners.

On loan from Everton, the injury comes at a cruel time for Broadhead, who has netted six goals in his last six appearances to take his tally in red and white to eight.

Speaking ahead of Sunderland’s clash with Doncaster Rovers, Johnson confirmed the blow.

“It’s a bad one for Nathan,” said the Head Coach.

“I would say it will be a minimum of three months, but it could be the season.”

He added: “Carl Winchester is also out today due to a knock.”
