Team news: Hume suffers injury setback

Denver Hume is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after a recurrence of his hamstring injury, Lee Johnson has confirmed.

The left-back picked up the injury back in December, but Johnson today revealed he will be out for six to eight weeks after a scan discovered a hamstring tear.

The Head Coach did have a positive update on Luke O’Nien, who continues his rehabilitation from a dislocated shoulder.

Speaking at today's press conference, Johnson provided the latest from the treatment room ahead of Saturday’s trip to AFC Wimbledon.

“Unfortunately, Denver has had a recurrence of his injury,” said the Head Coach.

“He has a grade three hamstring tear, which probably means somewhere between six and eight weeks.

“I feel for him first and foremost, he’d worked really hard and got up to top speed, but from a very innocuous stretch the injury has recurred.”

He continued: “There’s much better news on Luke.

“There’s always a risk that there could be a recurrence, but we have to take his confidence levels and how far he’s willing to progress it.

“He’s full of enthusiasm and always wants to do more, but we’re having to put the reigns on him to protect him.

“If all goes well, I would hope in about 10 days to two weeks he will be available for selection.”
