Appointment: Jevons appointed first team coach

Sunderland AFC is delighted to announce the appointment of Phil Jevons as the club’s new first-team coach.

The 42-year-old joins Lee Johnson’s backroom team from Everton where he undertook several roles during a seven-year spell, including most-recently Under-18s coach.

Born in Liverpool, Jevons rose through the ranks as a player at Goodison Park before embarking on an 18-year professional career that included 511 appearances and 172 goals.

Head of Coaching Stuart English said: “We are committed to bringing the right people to SAFC and following a robust recruitment process, we are delighted to welcome Phil to the club. He has worked in a Premier League environment alongside elite coaching staff and players for several years and he has a proven track record in improving players across various age groups. We believe his skillset and experience will not only add immediate value to our first-team set-up, but throughout our wider footballing operation. We would also like to thank Michael Proctor for his professionalism and enthusiasm throughout his time supporting the first team, and he of course remains an integral part of our coaching set-up.”
