Signing: Amad joins from Manchester United

Sunderland AFC is delighted to announce the signing of Amad.

The 20-year-old forward moves to the Stadium of Light on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United.

Amad becomes the Club’s seventh senior recruit of the summer, following Dan Ballard, Jack Clarke, Aji Alese, Alex Bass, Jewison Bennette and Edouard Michut to Wearside.

The Côte d'Ivoire international joined Atalanta aged 13 and quickly progressed through La Dea’s youth ranks before scoring four minutes into his first-team debut in October 2019.

He made his UEFA Champions League debut the following season and moved to Old Trafford in January 2021, with his Man Utd debut coming in a 4-0 UEFA Europa League victory over Real Sociedad.

Amad scored his first goal in the same competition in a 1-1 draw against AC Milan, whilst registering an assist on his Premier League debut in May 2021 to complete an accomplished start to his Red Devils career.

After starting in the UEFA Champions League in December 2021, the forward moved to Rangers for the remainder of the 2021-22 season in January and scored three goals in 11 appearances for the Scottish side.

Amad has made three senior appearances for Côte d'Ivoire and he scored his first goal – a 97th-minute free-kick to seal a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso – in June 2021.

Upon joining SAFC, Amad said: “I feel good and very positive about this opportunity, so I’m happy to be here. It was a great experience to play with Manchester United, but I’m here for a new challenge and I want to try my best to bring a lot of success to the Club. I feel good physically and I think this is the best team for me to progress and although I’ve never been to the Stadium of Light before, I know the supporters are great so I hope we can win many games together.”
