Team News: Latest on Winchester, McGeady and Dajaku

Alex Neil has issued a team news update ahead of Saturday’s Play-Off final against Wycombe Wanderers.

The Head Coach has provided good news regarding the outlook on the fitness of his squad for the trip to Wembley Stadium, including potential involvements for Carl Winchester and Aiden McGeady.

“I think for the first time in quite a long time, we’ve got a relatively clean bill of health,” Neil said.

“Some of the lads we maybe didn’t expect to make it have had good recoveries – players like Winnie [Winchester]. We'll certainly take a view on Aiden, and Leon Dajaku has also been very involved in training in the past few days.

“We have to take into account when picking the team a number of factors, whether that be form, returning from injury or having more or less minutes. It’s always tough, but we’ll make the right decisions.”

With the usual quota of seven substitute slots available to pick alongside the starting side, Neil admitted it can be just as tough a decision completing the matchday 18.

“Picking the bench can often be as hard as picking the starting XI – I pick the bench based on who I feel can have an impact on the game, with how I think the game will pan out.

“We name the team to the players on the day of the game. That’s how it’s been since I’ve been here, and I don’t believe  that’s ever a problem because it’s what the lads are used to.”
