Sunderland AFC confirms that Joe Anderson has joined Shrewsbury Town on loan.
After featuring for the Black Cats during their pre-season tour of the United States, the defender moves to the Croud Meadow until the end of the 2023-24 season.
Anderson arrived at the Stadium of Light from Everton in January 2023, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with a Club option of a further year.
The 22-year-old made his Sky Bet Championship debut in a 1-1 draw with Millwall, as the Lads registered a top-six finish in the second tier.
Kristjaan Speakman said: “Joe has settled within the first-team squad since his arrival in January and now is the right time for us to seek an opportunity for him to play regularly. This move will allow him to continue his development in a competitive senior environment and we hope that step allows him to return at some point and challenge for a place in our team. We look forward to supporting his progress closely throughout the forthcoming campaign and wish him well."
