Departure: Batth joins Norwich City

Sunderland AFC confirms that Danny Batth has joined Norwich City.

The 32-year-old’s move to the South East brings an end to the defender’s 18-month spell at the Stadium of Light, during which he made 55 appearances.

Batth joined SAFC in January 2022 and played 12 times as the Black Cats earned promotion to the Sky Bet Championship courtesy of a 17-game unbeaten run, which culminated in victory over Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley Stadium.

The defender was named the Fans’ Player of the Year following the 2022-23 season, as the Club registered a top-six finish following its return to the second tier.

Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman said: "Danny is a highly respected player and he’s been an absolute professional throughout his time at Sunderland AFC, which is exactly why we brought him to the Club. He’s not featured in our team this season and it’s in his nature to want to play games regularly, and compete week-in, week-out. Following an open dialogue with him throughout the summer, we took the difficult decision to agree to allow him to leave the Club if the right opportunity presented itself and we wish him all the best.”

All at SAFC thank Danny for his contribution and we wish him well at Norwich City.
