Women Preview: Lasses host Lewes

Sunderland Women return to Eppleton for their final home league of the calendar year this Sunday as they host Lewes Women in the Barclays Women’s Championship (KO 11:30am).

The Lasses are looking to bounce back in the league after losing 1-0 away against Blackburn at Bamber Bridge in their last outing, with the international break occupying last weekend.

Team news

A clean bill of health is expected for Sunday’s game, with no fresh injury concerns.

Emily Hutchinson, Abby Towers, Faye Mullen and Keira Ramshaw are all still unavailable.

Opposition

Lewes are currently eighth in the division with 10 points from seven games and have won their last two league matches – a 2-1 home win against Charlton and a 1-0 away victory at Coventry United.

The Rooks have only lost one game in the league so far – their only defeat coming against Durham at Maiden Castle.

Last season, the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light, with an own goal from Rebecca McKenna cancelling out Rhian Cleverley’s first half goal.
