New Appointment: Craig arrives as Women's Goalkeeping Coach

Sunderland AFC Women are delighted to welcome Jonathan Craig as the Club’s new Women’s First Team Goalkeeping Coach.

Craig – who carries a 22-year coaching background – arrives on a full-time basis to work with Mel Reay’s Lasses, having previously produced goalkeeping talent at clubs such as Hibernian, Heart of Midlothian, Barnsley and Indian outfit Real Kashmir.

Upon taking up the role, Craig said: “This is my biggest role to date, without a doubt.

“I’m extremely excited to be joining the Club and getting started. The project here is one I really want to be a part of – the whole Goalkeeping department here are passionate about bringing goalkeeping talent through and that’s something that matches my ambitions.

“The Club is in such a good place right now, with both the Men’s first team and the Women’s first team competing at Championship level. It’s an exciting time to be a part of the progression here and I feel honoured to join.”

SAFC Women General Manager Alex Clark added: “We’re very excited to have Jonathan on board.

“With his experience, he will be a very good addition to the team. We’re very excited to see him further develop our first-team and U23 goalkeepers.”

Craig begins his role with immediate effect, and his first game as part of the Lasses’ coaching staff will be the trip to Crystal Palace on October 16 in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
