Bailey Wright initially signed a loan deal at the Stadium of Light in January 2020, before sealing a permanent switch to Wearside the following summer.
Arriving with a wealth of experience in English football, Wright has previously spent seven years at Preston North End and three years at Bristol City, the latter uniting him with Lee Johnson for the first time.
Wright has made over 100 Championship appearances during his career and currently holds 24 full Australian caps, scoring his first international goal against Saudi Arabia in 2014 at Fulham's Craven Cottage.
The defender moved to England from his native Melbourne in 2009, and in his first full season on Wearside took on the vice-captaincy role.
