2026: Emily Scarr signs new deal

Sunderland Women is delighted to announce that Emily Scarr has signed a new contract with the Club.

After initially arriving on Wearside in 2020, Scarr has signed a two-year deal and extends her stay until summer 2026.

The 24-year-old has won both the Club’s 2022-23 and 2023-24 Women’s Player of the Year awards, as well as finishing top scorer in both of those seasons.

The forward was in prolific form at the end of the season, scoring seven league goals in 10 games in 2024, including braces in 3-0 victories over Sheffield United and Watford, and the opener in the 5-3 derby victory against Durham.

On signing her new deal, Scarr said: “I’m really happy. I definitely feel like this is the place for me to progress and develop as a player. I’ve loved it here, I love my teammates and the coaches, so I’m really glad I’ve signed.”

Sunderland Women Head Coach Mel Reay said: “Emily scored some important goals last season, in particular towards the tail end of it and that really contributed towards our promotion charge. I’m delighted she sees her future here with us and I hope we can push on together next season.”
