SAFC Women: Under-23 league update

Following the success of Sunderland Women Under-23s during the 2023-24 season, the team will be undergoing a restructure for the next campaign.

Courtney Lock’s side are unable to advance past Tier 6 and so will not be playing in the North East Women Regional Football League for 2024-25.

Therefore, the team will be focusing on playing in the Professional Game Academy league against fellow PGA sides.

The Club are also working on a comprehensive loan system in order to maximise the development of the players.

The Club explored all possible avenues to determine whether the team could progress, but decided this was the best possible way forward for the progression of the squad.

The young Lasses won the treble last season, winning the league, County Cup and League Cup.

Under-23s coach Dom Bylett will also be leaving his role to pursue other opportunities after supporting the side in his role over the last two years, overseeing two promotions.

We would like to thank Dom for his contribution to the Club and wish him well for the future.
